According to the Saudi Pro League club’s announcement, Neymar has returned to team training and is set to join the Al-Hilal squad for their upcoming Asian Champions League match against UAE Pro League club Al-Ain following his recovery from a significant knee injury.
The 32-year-old forward from Brazil has been sidelined since suffering an injury in a CONMEBOL World Cup qualifier against Uruguay in October of the previous year.
The athlete sustained an injury to his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and subsequently underwent surgery in November.
Neymar’s transition to Saudi Arabia from French champions Paris St Germain occurred in August of the previous year, with a reported transfer fee of approximately 90 million euros ($97.8 million). However, his time on the field has been limited, as he managed to participate in only five matches before facing a setback due to ongoing muscle injuries.
The former Barcelona forward, recognized as Brazil’s all-time leading scorer, was absent from the nation’s 2024 Copa America campaign in the United States. This absence coincided with Brazil’s disappointing performance, as they faced a second consecutive quarter-final exit from a major tournament following a penalty shootout loss to Croatia at the 2022 World Cup.
Al-Hilal has officially confirmed that Neymar will be part of the team for the upcoming away match against Al-Ain. “He’s back,” announced the club on the social media platform X.
Al-Hilal announced in a recent update that Neymar has rejoined team training after successfully completing his recovery program.
The team is set to face Al-Ain at the Hazza bin Zayed Stadium this coming Monday.
