Amazon has declared its intention to terminate about 14,000 corporate positions to “reduce bureaucracy” and optimise operations. The reductions were affirmed in an official blog entry by Beth Galetti, Amazon’s Senior Vice President of People Experience and Technology.
The reduction signifies the corporation’s ongoing effort to enhance operational efficiency by eliminating organisational layers and reallocating resources to strategic goals. Affected employees will have roughly 90 days to pursue new positions within Amazon, with recruitment teams favouring internal applicants. Individuals unable to get the latest employment will be provided with severance payments and transitional assistance.
The company announced that, despite robust commercial performance, it intends to implement a more streamlined organisational structure to respond more swiftly to market fluctuations, especially in light of the rapid advancement of AI. Amazon stated it anticipates ongoing recruitment in strategic sectors until 2026 while seeking additional operational efficiency.
