According to Palmeiras coach, Brazilian sensation Estevão is prepared for Chelsea

In a thrilling conclusion to his time at Palmeiras, coach Abel Ferreira expressed confidence in teenage sensation Estevao Willian, declaring him prepared for the challenges of the Premier League. The young star capped off his farewell match with a stunning goal against Chelsea, his soon-to-be club, showcasing his immense potential on a grand stage.

In a thrilling encounter at the Club World Cup quarter-final in Philadelphia, 18-year-old Estevao delivered a stunning equaliser that ignited hopes for his team. However, Chelsea snatched victory with a dramatic late own-goal, sealing a 2-1 win and leaving Estevao’s efforts in vain.

He is set to finalise his transfer to the London club, making his way to England just over a year after Chelsea struck a deal with Palmeiras for a reported 57 million euros ($67.1m), bonuses included.

“I may not have sons, but I have two daughters, and Estevao feels like my son,” Ferreira remarked following the match at Lincoln Financial Field, noting his conversation with Chelsea coach Enzo Maresca regarding Estevao.

“I had a conversation with Maresca earlier.” The coach is a commendable figure, and I expressed to him that the acquisition of this remarkable player goes beyond just talent; they’ve truly brought in an exceptional individual as well.

“He showcased his incredible talent on the pitch today, proving why it’s crucial for the team to nurture and support him. Sure, he may stumble at times, but his skills are undeniable, and he has the potential to turn the tide of a match all by himself.” He possesses that ability.

Estevao earned the title of the best player in the Brazilian league last year and has showcased his immense potential during the Club World Cup.

He faces a challenging battle to secure a spot in the Chelsea lineup, as Maresca boasts a diverse selection of attacking talent at his fingertips.

“Without a doubt, he will require the backing of the coach and management, as he is still young and this marks his inaugural departure from his homeland,” Ferreira stated.

“I informed him that the experience will differ significantly, as the sun only shines a few times annually and the nights arrive swiftly. However, I firmly believe that Chelsea possesses all the necessary elements to back him.”

“He’s an exceptional talent, and it’s clear he’s primed for the challenge ahead.”

– A remarkable prospect –

Ferreira, the Portuguese tactician at the helm of Palmeiras since 2020, shared an emotional moment with Estevao, embracing him in front of the press. The young player managed a smile, despite his team’s exit from the competition.

Maresca reflected on the match, stating, “I had my first conversation with Estevao after the game and told him it was the perfect night because we secured the victory and he found the back of the net.”

His immense talent is undeniable, showcasing the skills of a fantastic player. However, the key challenge lies in the transition from South America, or any other region, to Europe, where adaptation is crucial.

“It’s crucial that we assist him in adapting and, above all, finding joy in the game. There’s no question about his talent; he’s an exceptional player who is poised to become a key asset for Chelsea.”

In a thrilling development for Chelsea fans, the promising England Under-21 international winger, Jamie Gittens, was spotted in Philadelphia. The talented player is set to join the club after his stint with Borussia Dortmund.

“Jamie made an appearance tonight, taking to the pitch, and according to Maresca, he is expected to be with us for at least another day or two,”

“Following this, he will take a break and return just in time for the kickoff of the new season.”
