Chelsea complete  £62.4m double deal for Quenda & Essugo

Chelsea has finalised the acquisition of Sporting midfielders Geovany Quenda and Dario Essugo. The Portuguese club confirmed a total fee of approximately £62.4 million for the double signing.

 As reported on the Sporting website, the seventeen-year-old winger Quenda is set to join Chelsea for a fee that could reach £44 million. However, he will continue to play in Lisbon until the conclusion of the 2025-26 season.

 A teenager has successfully integrated into Sporting’s first team this season, marking his Champions League debut in September.Essugo, a 20-year-old defensive midfielder, is set to join Stamford Bridge this summer after completing a loan spell at Las Palmas. Sporting officially disclosed the transfer fee, which is £18.4 million.

 His performance in Spain has garnered attention, yet he has also received two red cards in his last four matches.Chelsea supporters will have to be patient before witnessing Quenda in action, but Essugo may link up with Enzo Maresca’s squad for the upcoming Fifa Club World Cup this summer in the United States.

 The London club has added to its roster by signing a Portuguese duo, marking the latest acquisition of young talent. This follows the confirmation of transfers for two additional 17-year-olds this summer.

 Brazilian Estevao Willian and Ecuadorian Kendry Paez are set to join Chelsea this summer.
