Sri Lanka spinner Praveen Jayawickrama has been suspended for one year from all cricket activities for violating anti-corruption regulations.
In August, the International Cricket Council (ICC) charged Jayawickrama with three violations of the code, including his failure to report an attempt to manipulate match outcomes and his obstruction of an ongoing investigation.
The 26-year-old has acknowledged violating the anti-corruption code.
The ICC announced that Jayawickrama had accepted one year of ineligibility, with the final six months suspended.
The ICC reported that Jayawickrama was solicited to manipulate international matches and instructed to contact another player regarding match-fixing during the 2021 season of the Lanka Premier League.
In April 2021, Jaywawickrama made his international debut, impressively claiming 11 wickets in his first Test match against Bangladesh.
He has participated in five Test matches, five one-day internationals, and five T20 internationals, with his most recent appearance for Sri Lanka in June 2022.
