According to OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, Meta, the company led by Mark Zuckerberg, has extended signing bonuses totaling $100 million to employees of the competing firm OpenAI in an effort to entice them to switch companies.
“They began extending substantial offers to numerous members of our team,” Altman stated on Tuesday during the “Uncapped” podcast, which is hosted by his brother Jack. ” For instance, $100 million signing bonuses.”
Altman stated that Meta’s efforts to recruit his employees have not been successful, at least not yet.
“None of our top talent has chosen to pursue that opportunity,” Altman stated.

Recent reports indicate that Zuckerberg is actively seeking individuals to join a new team focused on developing machines with “superintelligence” that could exceed human abilities.

In a significant move, Meta revealed last week its plan to invest $14.3 billion for a 49% stake in Scale AI. This investment aligns with CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s strategic ambitions and includes the recruitment of 28-year-old founder and CEO Alexandr Wang. As part of the agreement, several employees from Scale AI are set to transition to Meta.
